North Texas SC Earns 2-1 Texas Derby Win Over Houston Dynamo 2

ARLINGTON, Texas (May 19, 2025) – North Texas SC (5-3-2, 18 points) defeats Houston Dynamo 2 (5-4-1, 17 points) 2-1 after a 181-minute weather delay on Sunday night from Choctaw Stadium.

DIEGO AL RESCATE

Midfielder Diego Garcia netted the game-winning goal in the 87th minute for his first goal of the 2025 season. Garcia now has 12 career goals and three career game-winning goals for North Texas.

North Texas SC forward Sam Sarver converted his fifth goal of the season from the penalty kick spot in the 65th minute of the match. He leads North Texas in scoring, with three of his five goals coming from the penalty spot.

EL PARCERO DE TITULAR

Tonight, goalkeeper Nico Montoya made his professional career debut. The FC Dallas Academy product recorded a save in his first win. Montoya signed with North Texas in March 2025.

150 GOALS AT CHOCTAW STADIUM

Diego Garcia’s game-winning goal marked North Texas SC’s 150th regular-season goal scored at Choctaw Stadium. The club moved to the historic Arlington, Texas, venue ahead of the 2020 regular season. This is North Texas’ final year at the stadium before beginning play at Mansfield Stadium in 2026.
